You might have heard of Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Warren Buffet and the Sultan of Brunei but have you heard of these guys?
You should do as they are some of the richest people in the world...
...but they are all imaginary!
This list bases the wealth of the characters on the following:
World events: Daddy Warbucks from Annie has clearly benefited from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The economy: with gas prices reaching record levels, Jed Clampett of the Beverley Hillbillies is sitting pretty atop his reserves of black gold.
Trends:Prince Abakaliki of Nigeria, a fictional character who could also be called the King of Spam, clogs the inboxes of millions of real people each day.
Property: it comes as no surprise that Mr. Monopoly has made a fair bit of cash in the last few years.
Inheritance: Richie Rich and Bruce Wayne didn't really have to work hard to make their money but we wouldn't argue with Bruce Wayne anyway...
Mining: Scrooge McDuck was always accusing others of gold digging, but it clearly worked for him.
Energy: Mr. Burns is clearly doing well out of supplying power to Springfield.
So here is the list of the most wealthy fictional characters:
Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks - (Defense Industries) $36.2 billion
Charles Montgomery Burns - (Energy) $16.8 billion
Scrooge McDuck - (Mining & Treasure Hunting) $10.9 billion
Richie Rich - (Inheritance) $10.7 billion
Jed Clampett - (Oil & Gas) $7.7 billion
Mr. Monopoly - (Property) $7.1 billion
Bruce Wayne - (Inheritance & Defense) $6.8 billion
Prince Abakaliki of Nigeria (Inheritance) $2.8 billion
See, its not only in the real world where people can make lots of money!
