GMAC RFC
GMAC RFC is an award winning lender that soared during the housing boom to become Britain's tenth largest mortgage provider.
Now, due to the credit crunch, GMAC RFC has stopped issuing UK mortgages.
With no branches, and no savers, GMAC RFC was a different type of mortgage lender – neither bank nor building society. It was one of several companies that offered mortgages funded by the international money markets.
Because of this, the credit crunch has stopped it from extending any new borrowing. If you're an existing GMAC borrower, you will need to look at alternatives for remortgaging.
You can get advice on the best remortgages currently available from all 99 other UK lenders by filling in the enquiry form on the right.
Non-mainstream mortgages
Some of the products GMAC RFC specialised in were non-mainstream mortgages, for example:
- Self-certification mortgages
- Buy-to-let mortgages
- Mortgages for those with credit difficulties or a poor credit history
These categories are now not as popular among lenders as they used to be, but that's not to say there aren't still some worthwhile deals out there. An impartial adviser will be able to point you in the right direction for any of the above.
